Ohio Explosion Protection
Hard Fire provides explosion protection for industrial facilities. We are licensed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Working with IEP Technologies, we offer installation support and repair services for explosion protection systems, and we stock parts extensively for these critical systems.
What causes an explosion?
A deflagration (propagating combustion wave) explosion requires five elements:
- Fuel – can be a bulk material that is dispersed as a cloud of fine particles, a flammable gas or volatile chemical that creates vapors
- Ignition source – can be generated by a flame, welding arc, spontaneous combustion, frictional or electrostatic sparking
- Confined space
Once all five elements are brought together, the potential for an explosion in your plant exists.
What industries are at risk of an explosion?
Manufacturers and processors of the following industries should implement explosion protection:
- Aerosols & vapors
- Energy and power
- Food and grain
- Wood & paper
- Powdered metals
- Paint & pigments
How is an explosion prevented?
Depending on the type of facility, several configurations of explosion protection systems can be used, including explosion venting (to a safe outdoor location), explosion suppression and explosion isolation. Along with our partner IEP Technologies, Hard Fire can help you design the right system for your application.
How does Hard Fire assist with explosion protection?
We provide sales and service support for IEP Technologies, plus recharge support and parts maintenance for explosion protection systems. We have parts for these systems in stock, so repairs can be made quickly, and we are available 24/7 for any emergencies.
